Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah addressed the incident, noting that situations like this are unfortunately something officers encounter far too often in Erie.<\/p>\n
Chief Lorah explained that multiple minors were arrested in connection with the incident. He emphasized that the situation was handled appropriately by a veteran officer on the scene, ensuring it was brought under control safely.<\/p>\n
When asked whether officers sometimes respond to calls alone, Chief Lorah acknowledged that it can happen depending on the circumstances.<\/p>\n
He stressed that the repercussions of these incidents are serious\u2014even for minors\u2014and are not taken lightly.<\/p>\n
According to Children First Diversion, youth who participate in diversion programs are 17% less likely to be rearrested. Chief Lorah highlighted that Erie County offers several programs for young people, including PALS, with the goal of prioritizing diversion over incarceration.<\/p>\n
