BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A Bethlehem man is now facing charges in connection with break-ins targeting Indian and east Asian residents in Massachusetts last summer.<\/p>\n
The Middlesex County, Massachusetts district attorney says Itan Dami Beltran and two men from New York were arrested in a “highly-coordinated” criminal operation.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors say last June and July, the men from New York would rent local Airbnb’s and watch the families for weeks.<\/p>\n
Authorities say they used high-tech methods to track and steal cash, jewelry and priceless heirlooms.<\/p>\n
“Attaching GPS trackers to the cars of the families whose homes they ultimately broke into, installing hidden video cameras in the yards and on the property of those homes. And using Wi-Fi jammers to disable the security systems that victims may have had in their home,” said\u00a0Middlesex County District Attorney\u00a0Marian Ryan.<\/p>\n
Prosecuters did not say what they believe Beltran’s role was in the operation.<\/p>\n
However, he has been charged with conspiracy to commit residential break-ins.
