This April, pro wrestling meets visual art with Labor of Love\u2019s latest event, \u2018The Exhibition\u2019. The one-night takeover at Icebox Project Space will feature high-level independent wrestling alongside a curated showcase of top artists, photographers, and designers from the wrestling world. Scheduled to appear in the ring is Big Callux, \u201cWorld Famous\u201d Cheeseburger, Dr. Ethan Wilde, Matt Mako, The Outfielders, and Timothy Thatcher. (Note, the card is subject to change.)<\/p>\n

The showcase is the result of a collaboration with Saligman and over 100 artists, makers, spirits, and shadows. What locals will find in the once-abandoned 19th-century bank is a six-story work of art that will \u201cbreak into your brain and seize your senses.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n The experience is officially described as one that unravels into art, mystery, imagination, and playful exploration. Throughout the multi-level experience, visitors can expect performance artists, towering installations, interactive sculptures, live art, and immersive soundscapes. Developed by an Amsterdam-based studio known for pioneering spatial audio, 4DSOUND allows artists to create fully immersive environments using \u201csonic holograms,\u201d marking its first-ever presentation in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n The program will feature a line-up of local artists working in spatial sound, including Benjamin Louis Brody, Yesseh Furaha-Ali, Jaleel Shaw, James Allister Sprang and Immanuel Wilkins. The event also highlights alumni of YoungArts, an organization dedicated to supporting emerging artists through funding, mentorship, and professional development. The solo acoustic mega-set celebrates the band\u2019s greatest hits and deep cuts from ‘Dookie’ through ‘American Idiot.’ Designed as a full-room sing-along with lyrics projected onscreen, the night invites fans to join in on favorites like ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends,’ ‘Minority,’ and ‘Basket Case,’ reimagined in stripped-down arrangements.<\/p>\n Located on the third floor of Plays & Players Theatre, Quig\u2019s Pub offers an intimate, \u201cactor\u2019s speakeasy\u201d setting for live music. James Haro In Storage hosts the quarterly Going Acoustic at Quig\u2019s open mic there\u2014now in its fourth year\u2014and even celebrated his debut EP release at the venue in 2024. With his full band, Haro also recently co-headlined a Jimmy Eat World tribute night at Fringe Bar. Running March 30 through April 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., these full-day camps ($95 per day) give kids the chance to learn real circus skills\u2014like aerial sling, trapeze, juggling, wire walking, tumbling, and clowning\u2014while enjoying group games, creative play, and some quiet downtime.
