Philadelphia\u2019s popular springtime half-marathon is back this weekend, taking runners along a scenic route throughout the city\u2019s historic streets and past some of the its most iconic cultural landmarks. Here is everything you need to know. <\/p>\n
Start time<\/p>\n
The Love Run is scheduled for Sunday, March 29. <\/p>\n
The race site opens at 5:45 a.m. for gear check. Both the 13.1-mile half-marathon and the 4.3-mile 7K start at 7:30 a.m. and wrap up between 9 a.m. and noon. <\/p>\n
Half-marathon route<\/p>\n
The half-marathon begins at 22nd Street and the Parkway. Runners will head toward LOVE Park, then turn right on 16th Street and another right onto JFK Boulevard, where the route continues west until 20th Street.<\/p>\n
Then runners head one block south and turn left on Market Street where the race continues east all the way to Sixth Street, where it loops back to LOVE Park via Arch Street.<\/p>\n
From there, runners will enter back onto the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and continue on the Parkway as it turns into Kelly Drive. Runners will take Kelly Drive north to Girard Avenue, where they will then cross the Girard Avenue Bridge into West Philadelphia<\/a> and take Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Laurel Hill Cemetery.<\/p>\n The route loops back to Eakins Oval in front of the Art Museum.<\/p>\n 7K race route<\/p>\n The 7K starts between 20th and 21st Streets on the Parkway. Runners follow a similar downtown loop through LOVE Park, JFK Boulevard, and Market Street, then head back via Arch Street to the Parkway, finishing at Eakins Oval.<\/p>\n Road closures for the Philadelphia Love Run<\/p>\n Due to Homeland Security precautions, Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed from 20th Street to the Philadelphia Museum of Art<\/a> on race morning. The MLK Bridge will also be closed to vehicular traffic. <\/p>\n The following streets will also be closed on Sunday, March 29, beginning at 3 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m.:<\/p>\n Benjamin Franklin Parkway, from 22nd Street to Eakins Oval<\/p>\n Eakins Oval, from Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Philadelphia Museum of Art<\/p>\n Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, from Eakins Oval to Falls Bridge<\/p>\n Kelly Drive, from Eakins Oval to Fairmount<\/a> Avenue<\/p>\n Additional closures along the Love Run Philadelphia Half Marathon and 7.6K courses will begin at approximately 6:45 a.m.:<\/p>\n Benjamin Franklin Parkway, from 16th Street to Eakins Oval<\/p>\n 16th Street, from Benjamin Franklin Parkway to John F. Kennedy Boulevard<\/p>\n John F. Kennedy Boulevard, from 16th Street to 20th Street<\/p>\n 20th Street, from John F. Kennedy Boulevard to Market Street<\/p>\n Market Street, from 20th Street to 15th Street<\/p>\n South Penn Square to Juniper Street<\/p>\n Juniper Street to Market Street<\/p>\n Market Street, from Juniper Street to 6th Street<\/p>\n Sixth Street, from Market Street to Arch Street<\/p>\n Arch Street, from Sixth Street to Benjamin Franklin Parkway<\/p>\n Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Falls Bridge<\/p>\n Lansdowne Drive to Sweet Briar Drive<\/p>\n Black Road to Avenue of the Republic<\/p>\n Avenue of the Republic to Memorial Hill Drive<\/p>\n Memorial Hill Drive to South Concourse Drive<\/p>\n Parking restrictions<\/p>\n \u201cTemporary No Parking\u201d signs will be posted along the race route and surrounding areas. Parking will be prohibited in posted areas on Sunday, March 29, from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. Motorists must follow all posted signage. Vehicles parked in restricted zones during these hours will be relocated.<\/p>\n The Inquirer has a guide on what to do if you get a courtesy tow<\/a>.<\/p>\n How to get to the Philadelphia Love Run<\/p>\n Parking<\/p>\n There are more than 15 parking garages and lots<\/a> near Eakins Oval, ranging from $10 to $30-plus for the duration of the event.<\/p>\n Public transportation<\/p>\n Market-Frankford Line: Take to 15th Street\/City Hall Station for a 25-minute walk to the start.<\/p>\n Broad Street Line: Exit at City Hall or Spring Garden<\/a> stations for a 25-minute walk.<\/p>\n Regional Rail: Take to Suburban Station for an easy walk to the Parkway.<\/p>\n Bus routes: Many lines will have detours during the race.<\/p>\n SEPTA Bus Detours <\/p>\n
