WASHINGTON, D.C. (WETM<\/a>) \u2014 A Tioga County, Pennsylvania, farmer is making sure the country knows what farmers are doing around the Keystone state, and he got to do it on Friday with President Donald Trump standing by his side.<\/p>\n

On Friday, March 27, around 500 farmers from across the country were invited to the National Agriculture Day event on the White House South Lawn. Michael Cliver from Westfield, Pennsylvania, in Tioga County, was given the opportunity to stand beside the president and give his remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy name is Michael Cliver, and I operate my family\u2019s ranch in Westfield, Pennsylvania, Double Circle D Farms. And the work that you guys have done, it\u2019s unexplainable how big it is for the American farmer and the next generation that don\u2019t have the headache and don\u2019t have to worry about the death tax,\u201d exclaimed Cliver. \u201cIt\u2019s astounding what you guys have done. It\u2019s absolutely spectacular,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

According to Cliver, he did not know he was going to be speaking at Friday\u2019s event, but despite being put on the spot, he was prepared to speak from personal experiences.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd also the working family tax cut policies that allowed us to get my daughter a Trump account, and we can teach her fiscal responsibility, compound interest, and investment, and plan for her future. And it\u2019s just absolutely astounding what you\u2019ve done with that,\u201d said Cliver. \u201cAlso, your energy policies up in Potter and Tioga County, Pennsylvania, the gas companies are leasing mineral rights again actively, and that\u2019s putting money back into the farmers\u2019 pockets up there, too. So, for all that, I applaud you and thank you, Mr. President,\u201d he exclaimed.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s White House event was billed as honoring American farmers for 250 years of building our country. During the event, the president also spoke about what he will do for farmers throughout the rest of his term.<\/p>\n
