READING, Pa. – Saturday, it will be a showdown on the ice as the 20th Battle of the Badges comes to Santander Arena.<\/p>\n
The Reading Police and Fire departments will face off against one another in the annual hockey game for charity.<\/p>\n
The action starts at 1:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
Proceeds benefit the Battle of the Badges Scholarship Fund, which organizers say helps the children of first responders who’ve died in the line of duty.<\/p>\n
The players say it’s both a good time and a good cause.<\/p>\n
“We’re all competitive individuals so we enjoy that part of the game. So, if you come out, there’s going to be some fights, most likely. At least a couple scuffles. So, it’s something fun,” said Issac Long with Reading Police.<\/p>\n
“I like the competitiveness and I also like what the game stands for as far as bringing everybody together and trying to raise money for the scholarship fund,” added Joshua Faust with Reading Police.<\/p>\n
