The City of Pittsburgh is on high alert after students posted plans of a teen takeover Downtown tonight.<\/p>\n
PREVIOUS COVERAGE >>> Pittsburgh Public Schools issues plea to parents about planned \u2018Downtown takeover\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n Those posts planned the \u201ctakeover\u201d for Friday after school.<\/p>\n Pittsburgh Public Schools warned parents about it this week with a robocall telling them it is not a school-sanctioned event, nor will there be supervisors.<\/p>\n City officials said they were working to prepare for any situation.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always better to be overly prepared than not. We understand there\u2019s something on social media. We\u2019ll see what happens. We still want people to come down and enjoy themselves if they\u2019re coming Downtown tonight and we will do our duties as we usually do,\u201d Mayor Corey O\u2019Connor said.<\/p>\n Pittsburgh Police were also ready.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are there to keep things safe for everyone. If our young people want to come Downtown and have a great time and follow the rules, we will be there to keep them safe.
