Local residents will take to the streets across the area Saturday for the third \u201cNo Kings\u201d demonstration since President Donald Trump began his second term.<\/p>\n

The locals will join a nationwide movement that organizers said has previously drawn millions of participants across all 50 states.<\/p>\n

The Saturday, March 28, rallies follow similar large-scale events held last spring and fall. <\/p>\n

Organizers described the movement as a defense of democratic principles against what they characterize as executive overreach by the Republican president.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump wants to rule over us as a tyrant,\u201d No Kings organizers said on their website. \u201cBut this is America, and power belongs to the people \u2014 not to wannabe kings or their billionaire cronies.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Bucks County, several demonstrations are scheduled throughout the day:<\/p>\n

\u2022 City of Lamberville and New Hope Borough: Indivisible Lambertville\/New Hope will hold a march from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., starting at Bridge Street and South Union in Lambertville and ending at New Hope-Solebury High School.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Middletown Township: A demonstration is set for noon to 2 p.m. outside the office of Republican U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick at Summit Square.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Quakertown Borough: Upper Bucks United will protest from noon to 2 p.m. at Triangle Park. This event also aims to support five high school students detained during a previous immigration protest that drew national scrutiny.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Perkasie Borough: A gathering is planned for noon to 2 p.m. at a location that has not yet been publicly announced.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Morrisville Borough: Indivisible Bucks County will host a large-scale event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Williamson Park.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Bensalem Township: Protesters will gather outside the library on Hulmeville Road from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Doylestown Borough: A group will meet outside the Bucks County Administration Building at Main and Court streets from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

Laura Rose, a co-leader of Indivisible Bucks County, said the protests are a response to what she described as an \u201cassault on the rights \u2014 and the wallets \u2014 of Americans\u201d since the movement\u2019s last event in October.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must all stand up and protest Donald Trump\u2019s betrayal of American values so that we can ensure the rights of all are upheld,\u201d Rose said, adding that the events will focus on constitutional checks and balances, freedom, and equality.<\/p>\n

While the previous two No Kings weekends saw high turnout, they also drew sharp condemnation from supporters of the president. <\/p>\n

Large crowds are also expected Saturday in Philadelphia for No Kings events, which are expected to also draw Bucks Countians. <\/p>\n
