This notice describes the Company&#8217;s rate request, the PUC&#8217;s role, and what actions you can take.<br \/>\nPeoples has requested an overall net distribution rate increase of approximately $163.2 million<br \/>\nper year. In this filing, Peoples is updating the normal heating degree days (&#8220;HDDs&#8221;) used in the<br \/>\nWeather Normalization Adjustment (WNA) mechanism as described in its current and proposed<br \/>\ntariffs on page 79.<br \/>\nBased upon current tariff rates, if the Company&#8217;s entire request is approved:<br \/>\nThe total bill for a residential customer using 86 Mcf per year would increase from $122.20<br \/>\nto $138.23* per month or by 13.1%.<br \/>\n The total bill for a commercial customer using 250 Mcf per year would increase from $271.47<br \/>\nto $314.05 per month or by 15.7%.<br \/>\n Rates for an industrial customer using 1,750 Mcf per year would increase from $1,802.05 to<br \/>\n$2,010.68 per month or by 11.6%.<br \/>\n*This amount excludes the Company&#8217;s proposed defined credit adjustment applicable to residential customers<br \/>\nnot enrolled in the Customer Assistance Program (CAP) that is expected to be provided to customers in the<br \/>\nfirst quarter of both 2027 and 2028.<br \/>\nTo find out your customer class or how the requested increase may affect your natural gas bill,<br \/>\ncontact Peoples at 1-800-764-0111. The rates requested by the Company may be found in the<br \/>\nCompany&#8217;s Proposed Tariff, PA PUC No. 49. You may examine the material filed with the PUC<br \/>\nwhich explains the requested increase and the reasons for it. A copy of this material is kept at<br \/>\nPeoples&#8217; office. Upon request, the Company will send you the Statement of Reasons for Tariff No.<br \/>\n49, explaining why the rate increase has been requested.<br \/>\nThe state agency which approves rates for public utilities is the PUC. The PUC will examine the requested<br \/>\nrate increase and can prevent existing rates from changing until it investigates and\/or holds hearings on the<br \/>\nrequest. The Company must prove that the requested rates are reasonable. After examining the evidence,<br \/>\nthe PUC may grant all, some or none of the request or may reduce existing rates.<br \/>\nThe PUC may change the amount of the rate increase or decrease requested by the utility and<br \/>\ncustomer class. As a result, the rate charged to you may be different than the rate requested by the<br \/>\nCompany and shown above.<br \/>\nThere are three ways to challenge a Company&#8217;s request to change its rates:<br \/>\n1. You can file a formal complaint. If you want a hearing before a judge, you must file a formal<br \/>\ncomplaint. By filing a formal complaint, you assure yourself the opportunity to take part in<br \/>\nhearings about the rate increase request. All complaints should be filed with the PUC before<br \/>\nMay 26, 2026. If no formal complaints are filed, the Commission may grant all, some or none<br \/>\nof the request without holding a hearing before a judge.<br \/>\n2. You can send us a letter telling us why you object to the requested rate increase. Sometimes<br \/>\nthere is information in these letters that makes us aware of problems with the Company&#8217;s<br \/>\nservice or management.
