WYOMISSING, Pa. – Young kids in Berks County took part in a long-standing Easter tradition in the community on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Dozens of children ages 1 through 12 packed Wyomissing Hills Memorial Park for the borough’s annual Easter Egg hunt.<\/p>\n
10,000 eggs, each filled with candy, were placed throughout the park for the kids to find and take home with them.<\/p>\n
They also got a chance to get their pictures taken with Briar the Bunny.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the annual event is a great way to kick off the Spring season.<\/p>\n
“Everyone’s been hibernating all winter long. It’s a good chance for neighbors to get out and see each other,” Randy McKinley, director of recreation and communications for Wyomissing Borough, said. “While the kids are doing the hunt, the parents are over on the side enjoying their coffee, having conversations.”<\/p>\n
New this year was a special “Golden Egg” for each age group.<\/p>\n
The lucky kids who found those eggs got more than just candy.<\/p>\n
