Harry Ivan (Pete) Gray Jr, 81 of Vanderbilt PA on Friday, March 27th went to be with the Lord after a brief courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.\u00a0 Pete was born\u00a0August 8th, 1944, in Connellsville PA. a son of the late Harry Ivan Gray and Gladys Fern Fuller Gray.\u00a0Pete was a retired coal miner where he was previously employed by Robena and Maple Creek Mines.\u00a0
He proudly served in the US Army where he fought in the Vietnam War.\u00a0He was the Commander of the Emery Lewis Pratt Legion Post 586 in Vanderbilt for 20 years.\u00a0 He was a 64-year Life Member of the D.L. & V Fire Department; he served on the Vanderbilt council for many years. He was an avid bowler at Young Lanes with friends, along with his every Saturday night card playing with his buddies.\u00a0 Pete was a stranger to no one; he would strike up a conversation with anyone.\u00a0Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 60 years, Connie Gray, his three daughters Tanya Staus (John), Tracy Gray and Tiffany Adobato (Rick), also the 4th baby girl Jackie Cross (Jamie). Grandchildren CJ Grimm (Shelby), McKenzie Price (Tony), John Price, Christopher Jordan (Jordan), Joel Pritts (Shannon), Isabella Hair (Evan) and great grandchildren Ariella, Dominic, Carter, Emmy Jean, Levi and two twin unborn baby boys due in a few months. He is also survived by his two sisters Betty Keffer, Margie Gray and brother-in-law Dale Arison and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Jan Arison, brothers in law Richard Keffer and Kenneth Gillespie. Our family would like to thank the Amedisys nurses and staff for the care they provided.\u00a0 Friends will be received in the Vito C. Martucci Funeral Home,123 S. 1St. St. West Side Connellsville Pa.724-628-9033 on Tuesday, March 31st from 12-8, D.L. & V. Fire Dept will conduct a service at 6pm. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 am in the Martucci Funeral Home with Pastor Glendon Wills officiating a personal friend of Pete’s.
Interment will follow at the Dickerson Run Cemetery with full military rights.\u00a0<\/p>\n
