{"id":152294,"date":"2026-03-30T12:53:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T12:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/152294\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T12:53:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T12:53:07","slug":"reading-moves-rental-license-applications-online-early-results-show-faster-processing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/152294\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading moves rental license applications online; early results show faster processing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reading has moved its annual rental property license application process online, replacing the previous paper system.<\/p>\n<p>City officials say the new system is faster, more accurate and more secure.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said early results show noticeable improvement with 831 applications covering 781 properties processed by the Property Maintenance Inspection office in the first 10 days of this year\u2019s cycle, compared to the same point last year when many paper applications had not yet been reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>The city acknowledged that some property owners, especially those with multiple properties or more complicated situations, may need time to adjust to the new system.<\/p>\n<p>To help with the transition, Mayor Eddie Moran approved temporary changes to office hours.<\/p>\n<p>The office will be closed to the public from 8 to 9 a.m. each weekday from April 1 through May 15, so staff can review applications and assist property owners.<\/p>\n<p>Regular hours will resume after May 15.<\/p>\n<p>Property owners who need help are encouraged to contact the City Service Center at 1-877-727-3234.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Reading has moved its annual rental property license application process online, replacing the previous paper system.
