{"id":152649,"date":"2026-03-30T20:56:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T20:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/152649\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T20:56:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T20:56:09","slug":"da-79-year-old-bethlehem-man-sentenced-to-up-to-47-years-for-child-sexual-assault-bethlehem-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/152649\/","title":{"rendered":"DA: 79\u2011year\u2011old Bethlehem man sentenced to up to 47 years for child sexual assault | Bethlehem Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BETHLEHEM, Pa. &#8211; A Bethlehem man convicted of numerous charges related to the sexual assault of a child was sentenced to state prison Monday.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release from the DA, Ronald Haberstumpf, 79, of Bethlehem, was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wfmz.com\/news\/crime\/da-bethlehem-man-convicted-of-child-sexual-assault-faces-decades-in-prison\/article_dbb993cb-cab3-4b80-afa8-e00e8a16cce3.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">convicted in August 2025 after a one-day trial on multiple charges<\/a>, including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, unlawful sexual contact with a minor, indecent assault of a person under 13 years of age, corruption of minors by an adult, and endangering the welfare of children.<\/p>\n<p>The DA says Haberstumpf was sentenced to 21 to 47 years in a hearing on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Haberstumpf will also be required to register under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act and was classified as a Sexually Violent Predator, according to officials.<\/p>\n<p>Under the sentence imposed on Monday, Haberstumpf will be 99 years old.<\/p>\n<p>The offenses happened between 2013 and 2017 at a home in Bethlehem. Police say the victim was between the ages of 4 and 8 at the time and was known to the defendant.
