{"id":153404,"date":"2026-03-31T16:10:06","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T16:10:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/153404\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T16:10:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T16:10:06","slug":"16-year-old-charged-with-shooting-14-year-old-in-pittsburgh-wpxi-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/153404\/","title":{"rendered":"16-year-old charged with shooting 14-year-old in Pittsburgh \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 A 16-year-old is facing charges after police said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/teen-boy-shot-homewood-south-2-people-detained-questioning\/RN4LNXVOZ5FFJGPIBPMCBEZNQA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/teen-boy-shot-homewood-south-2-people-detained-questioning\/RN4LNXVOZ5FFJGPIBPMCBEZNQA\/\">he shot a 14-year-old in Pittsburgh\u2019s Homewood neighborhood<\/a> on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Pittsburgh police said officers were called to the 500 block of Rosedale Street at 7:30 p.m. for reports of two StopSpotter alerts indicating that 15 rounds were fired.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Officers found the 14-year-old shot in the thigh. He was taken to a hospital after officers applied a tourniquet. He was last listed in stable condition. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Witnesses told police that the incident started with a gathering of ten teens in the street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">According to the criminal complaint, police caught up with Jaison Martin a few streets over after running from officers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Police paperwork stated Martin stopped, threw a gun on the sidewalk and uttered to officers, \u201cI didn\u2019t shoot first,\u201d claiming self-defense. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">According to the criminal complaint, Martin told police that he feared for his life and said he had a green beam pointed at his head. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Martin told officers he was 16 years old and had just been released from jail. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Police said that video they obtained showed Martin firing in the direction where the victim was standing when he was shot. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Martin is facing several charges, including aggravated assault, discharging a firearm into a structure, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor and recklessly endangering another person. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Court documents show that Martin\u2019s bail was denied.
