{"id":154248,"date":"2026-04-01T11:44:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T11:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/154248\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T11:44:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T11:44:07","slug":"warning-period-ends-for-ai-powered-cameras-in-septa-trolleys-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/154248\/","title":{"rendered":"Warning period ends for AI-powered cameras in SEPTA trolleys \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The warning period is over and, starting Wednesday, drivers caught illegally parking by the newly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/ai-powered-ticketing-cameras-on-septa-trolleys-go-live-as-warning-period-begins\/4361618\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/septa-trolleys-to-get-ai-powered-ticketing-cameras-just-like-buses\/4359946\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">installed AI-powered cameras in 30 SEPTA trolleys<\/a> across the city, will face fines.<\/p>\n<p>The cameras were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/septa-trolleys-to-get-ai-powered-ticketing-cameras-just-like-buses\/4359946\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/septa-trolleys-to-get-ai-powered-ticketing-cameras-just-like-buses\/4359946\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">announced back in February<\/a> and were installed through a partnership between SEPTA, the Philadelphia Parking Authority and the city&#8217;s Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Systems.<\/p>\n<p>And now, after a 30-day warning period, cameras on SEPTA trolleys serving Lines T1 through T5, along with the G1 route, could slap those who are caught on camera parking illegally with $51 fines. <\/p>\n<p>Officials have said that these automated enforcement cameras are intended to &#8220;identify vehicles illegally blocking trolley lanes and stopping zones.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The program expands\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/transportation-and-transit\/septa-ppa-ai-powered-cams-bus-tickets\/4153519\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">a similar program that put ticketing cameras on over 150 buses<\/a>\u00a0throughout the city that was launched last year.<\/p>\n<p>Since the launch of that program, the NBC10 Investigators found these cameras have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/investigations\/ai-powered-cameras-on-septa-buses-have-led-to-thousands-of-tickets\/4348922\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">issued over 112,000 tickets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Officials have said that trained PPA enforcement officers will manually review all violations before issuing warnings or $51 citations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The warning period is over and, starting Wednesday, drivers caught illegally parking by the newly installed AI-powered cameras&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":154249,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[69,71,70,2618],"class_list":{"0":"post-154248","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-philadelphia","8":"tag-philadelphia","9":"tag-philadelphia-headlines","10":"tag-philadelphia-news","11":"tag-septa"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/154248","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=154248"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/154248\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/154249"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=154248"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=154248"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=154248"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
