PennDOT and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful have launched the Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania program. This program invites environmentally conscious students who want to help preserve Pennsylvania’s natural resources.<\/p>\n
The program allows young Pennsylvanians to train and learn how to protect the environment and how they can build on leadership and problem-solving skills. Students from grades 10 to 12 can participate.<\/p>\n
\u201cPennsylvania\u2019s ecological beauty and sustainability come from hard work on the ground level,\u201d said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. \u201cThrough litter clean-up and prevention, stream restoration, and empowering their friends and neighbors, the next generation of environmental leaders are setting the standard for the rest of us.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are honored to offer the Young Ambassadors Program in partnership with PennDOT for a fifth year. Each student brings unique experiences and tremendous passion for creating meaningful change in their communities and across the Commonwealth, and we look forward to welcoming a new group of inspiring young leaders,\u201d said Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Education and training programs will be available for participants. Ambassadors who have been selected to uphold the mission and values of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful will be presenting the materials to participants.<\/p>\n
The program requires that all participants attend six virtual education sessions, conduct a community assessment and create a presentation summarizing their assessment, and organize a community cleanup event with Pick Up Pennsylvania and an education event or activity.<\/p>\n
