CHARLOTTE \u2014 Ville Koivunen made sure that seven was the Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins\u2019 lucky number Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Koivunen scored in the overtime period as the Penguins rallied past the Charlotte Checkers, 3-2, at Bojangles Coliseum.<\/p>\n
Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton extends its winning streak to seven as the Penguins swept the weekend series with the Checkers.<\/p>\n
But the seventh victory didn\u2019t look like it was going to happen.<\/p>\n
The Checkers took a 2-1 lead in the second period after Colton Huard\u2019s first goal of 2025 gave Charlotte a 2-1 lead. But Danton Heinen answered eight minutes later on a power-play goal, scoring off assists from Koivunen and Ryan Graves to knot it at 2-2 at the second intermission.<\/p>\n
It stood that way throughout the third, sending it into overtime. There, it was Koivunen netting his fourth goal of the year to improve the Penguins to 7-0 on the year.<\/p>\n
The Penguins bring their perfect record home for two games at Mohegan Arena. They take on Providence on Wednesday in an Atlantic Division showdown, and host Bridgeport on Halloween night.
