Hamilton St.<\/p>\n<p>The property is the building which houses the 10th\u00a0and Hamilton police station.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Matt Tuerk told council that the resolution will allow the administration to transact directly with the Allentown Art Museum, which is the intended buyer of the property.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2024, the councilmembers at that time split 4-3 to authorize the administration to begin the process of selling the property with the intention of temporarily moving the police department in anticipation of a new police headquarters being constructed at 425 Hamilton St.<\/p>\n<p>No one on the current council objected to Wednesday night\u2019s resolution.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/allentownpa.legistar.com\/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=7963584&amp;GUID=9DC78A53-FC33-4877-82DC-7D17EB5B3810&amp;Options=&amp;Search=\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The resolution<\/a> authorizes the mayor to execute all necessary documents needed to effectuate the sale to the museum.<\/p>\n<p>Tuerk said the Art Museum\u2019s intention is to demolish the current building to make way for a new multistory museum at the site.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution will not allow the buyer to take possession of the property until adequate facilities for the police department are available for occupancy.<\/p>\n<p>No additional details of the proposed sale were available.<\/p>\n<p>Intersection upgrade<\/p>\n<p>In other business, council adopted an ordinance to amend the 2026 capital fund budget to provide for an increase of $1.08 million to fund the upgrade to the intersection of 19th\u00a0Street and Roth Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>The city received a state Green Light Go grant for $798,480, which required a 25% percent match from the municipality.<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s match is $199,620, and an additional $89,290 of necessary funds for the project will come from the city\u2019s general fund cash account.<\/p>\n<p>Municipal golf course<\/p>\n<p>Also Wednesday, council awarded a contract to GIS LLC, Easton, Maryland, in the amount of $82,400 to plan and design a new irrigation system for the Allentown Municipal Golf Course.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The project will take the existing irrigation system and reimagine the system to ensure efficient water use, environmental sustainability, and reliable performance that supports high-quality turf and golfing conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ALLENTOWN, Pa. \u2013 Allentown City Council voted Wednesday to approve a resolution that will confirm the city\u2019s intention&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":155038,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[10],"tags":[70296,119,1191,2748,121,70297,120,553,2459],"class_list":["post-155037","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-allentown","tag-10th-and-hamilton-police-stations","tag-allentown","tag-allentown-art-museum","tag-allentown-city-council","tag-allentown-headlines","tag-allentown-municipal-gold-course","tag-allentown-news","tag-hamilton-street","tag-matt-tuerk"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/155037","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=155037"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/155037\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/155038"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=155037"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=155037"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=155037"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
