BUCKS COUNTY, PA \u2014 The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that daytime lane closures will take place next week on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships as part of an ongoing $116 million highway improvement project.<\/p>\n

From Monday, October 27, through Friday, October 31, lane closures will be in effect in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day. The restrictions will allow crews to perform construction work associated with the widening and reconstruction of this heavily traveled corridor.<\/p>\n

Drivers should expect congestion and travel delays throughout the work zone and are encouraged to allow additional time or use alternate routes. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.<\/p>\n

The work is part of PennDOT\u2019s U.S. 1\/RC2 project, which is reconstructing and widening a three-mile section of U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel\/Business U.S. 1 Interchange, aiming to improve safety and traffic flow for Bucks County commuters.<\/p>\n
