ETNA, Pa. \u2014 Etna officials have moved to close a park on Pine Street earlier after \u201crecent incidents\u201d that police are investigating.<\/p>\n
Neighbors say fights have become a frequent occurrence at the Etna playground, happening both during the day and at night.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just a fight every night. There\u2019s a fight down in the park every night,\u201d neighbor Colleen Lyons said. \u201cIt\u2019s not just one-on-one. It\u2019s 20 on one, 15 on one.\u201d<\/p>\n
Borough said police are investigating unspecified incidents, including trying to identify those involved.<\/p>\n
Lyons said the situation has grown increasingly alarming, claiming some teens have acted aggressively toward adults.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have no remorse. They have no fear. They will come right up to you and tell you they have a gun,\u201d Lyons said.<\/p>\n
Because of the violence, Lyons said she no longer allows her grandchildren to go to the park.<\/p>\n
Some teens said they also do not feel safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe like going down to the park because we like seeing everyone and hanging out with everyone, but when it\u2019s like that, it\u2019s scary,\u201d Vera Wilkinson said.<\/p>\n
The borough has set a new closing time of 5 p.m. for the park until further notice. <\/p>\n
