This Sunday, the Easter Promenade returns to South Street, with everything from the Easter Bunny and lots of candy to family fun and folks getting dressed in their Sunday best.<\/p>\n
For the 93rd consecutive Easter Sunday, the city will gather for a day of celebration and community.<\/p>\n
“Meet us at 5th and South Streets for the kickoff,” says Eleanor Ingersoll, Executive Director of the South Street Headhouse District. “Get your penny candies. Get your ears. We’ll be handing them out. Come and just strut with us.”<\/p>\n
The Promenade will be led by a man you can’t miss.<\/p>\n
“Our Grand Marshal Henri David always comes exquisitely decked out,” says Ingersoll. “He is the perfect interpretation of Easter because he always has something new and extravagant. Every year, he will lead us down.”<\/p>\n
You, too, should come dressed to impress and compete for prizes.<\/p>\n
There are awards for best dressed families and pets in a contest they call “razzle dazzle.”<\/p>\n
“It’s kind of like your flair, your creativity, what you just want to bring and exude on stage,” says Ingersoll.<\/p>\n
To honor the nation’s semi-quincentennial, there’s a special new contest.<\/p>\n
“As a nod to the 250th, it’s your best interpretation of creative influences on the 250th,” she says. “Whether it’s colonial or colonial-esque. You can dress up as Benjamin Franklin. You can dress up as the key.”<\/p>\n

It’s free to attend, rain or shine, and it all gets started at noon on Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n
