Bethlehem‘s game last Friday was a loss, but they didn’t let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Emmanuel Christian Warriors get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Wildcats have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday’s blowout was nothing new.

Clayton Marshall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter’s box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Bethlehem is undefeated when Marshall posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kason Paul was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Bethlehem’s success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn’t). Another player making a difference was Jackson Lock, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Bethlehem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory snapped Bethlehem’s losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-4 record. As for Emmanuel Christian, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Bethlehem wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 14-1 win against Gadsden County on the 31st. As for Emmanuel Christian, they will head out to take on Daleville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they’ve allowed 13.64 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
