Student Government Board discussed a new landlord-rating app and Fifth Avenue bus line issues at its weekly meeting Tuesday night at Nordy\u2019s Place.<\/p>\n
SGB President Marley Pinsky encouraged students to utilize an application the board started called Rate Yinz Landlord<\/a>. The app allows students to rate and review landlords in Oakland.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can look at student written reviews, student feedback, anonymously. It\u2019s like Rate My Professor<\/a> but for landlords,\u201d Pinsky said. \u201cThis is a way to hold Oakland landlords accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n Board member Andrew Elliott addressed concerns about new campus construction and bus routing<\/a> along Fifth Avenue.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s construction on Fifth [Avenue]. Some buses are skipping the stop near Langley Hall,\u201d Elliott said. \u201c[This] is challenging to reach because two lanes near the sidewalk are blocked off. If it is closing, the University is only being serviced [by] a single bus stop on that route. \u201d<\/p>\n Elliott said he is planning to find out more about the bus routing by Langley Hall, including whether it will be closing.<\/p>\n Board member Kylie Baker discussed a plan to convert empty space in Hillman Library to prayer rooms<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI am touring Hillman to look at potential prayer spaces,\u201d Baker said. \u201cWe are very hopeful about the provided areas. We are hoping to get that squared away by the start of next year.\u201d<\/p>\n Pinsky said the University had received design pitches for a first-year student Honors College<\/a> housing project previously outlined in the Campus Master Plan<\/a>. The building will be located along Fifth Avenue and Ruskin Drive in an empty lot near the music building. Pinsky said she served as a student representative for design presentations for the new building.\u00a0<\/p>\n SGB President-Elect Evan Levasseur mentioned that interviews for cabinet positions<\/a> will continue into this coming weekend.<\/p>\n Allocations:\n<\/p>\n
