Reading is giving property owners more time to comply with annual housing registration requirements after the launch of a new online system.<\/p>\n
The 2026 Housing Renewal grace period has been extended through April 30.<\/p>\n
Officials said the extension gives landlords and other affected property owners additional time to complete renewals required by city code.<\/p>\n
Officials said some users encountered difficulties navigating the new digital platform intended to streamline registration, payments and account management.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe realized there were some challenges with the new system,\u201d Mayor Eddie Moran said in a statement. \u201cThis extension gives our property owners the time they need to navigate it while we continue working to make our services more efficient and accessible for everyone in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
City officials said the additional time is intended to ease the transition while improvements to the online system continue.<\/p>\n
Property owners who fail to renew by the extended deadline could still face late fees or enforcement actions.<\/p>\n
