Erie residents took part in a Good Friday tradition focused on reflection and social justice.<\/p>\n
Friday\u2019s Pilgrimage for Peace brought dozens together to walk through the city and confront the reality of racism in the community.<\/p>\n
The Benedictines for Peace hosted the annual event beginning at St. Peter\u2019s Cathedral and moving through Erie\u2019s streets.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s stations of the cross centered on racism, with participants stopping at locations tied to inequality and injustice.<\/p>\n
Walkers moved in silence between stops, using the time for prayer and reflection.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s grown this year because we have an added feature to our Holy Week. We have a retreat going on, which involves 30 extra people, so it will expand what we\u2019re doing,\u201d said Sister Diane Rabe, administrator for the Benedictine Sisters of Erie.<\/p>\n
Organizers said the goal is to connect faith with real-world issues impacting the community today.<\/p>\n
