READING, Pa. \u2014 On Good Friday, through the streets of Reading, dozens walking together,\u2028recreating the Stations of the Cross.<\/p>\n
It started around 1:45 p.m., at the Third and Spruce Rec Center.<\/p>\n
Then, block by block, they made their way here, to St. Peter\u2019s Church on South Fifth Street. Stopping along the way, to pray, and relive Jesus\u2019 journey to the cross.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re gathered here for the reenactment of Jesus Christ\u2026 to see how it all played out,\u201d said Jorge Mateo of Reading.<\/p>\n
For Jorge Mateo, this is tradition.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think I was like six or seven years old, my mother used to bring me here, and we used to come here. Now, I bring my kids to live the same thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
A moment passed down.<\/p>\n
You could see families, children, some even getting emotional.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis can’t be explained, you feel it,\u201d said Mar\u00eda Mercedes Madera of Reading.<\/p>\n
For Mar\u00eda Mercedes Madera, this day is everything.<\/p>\n
\u201cI asked for this day off because today belongs to the Lord,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She says, it\u2019s a reminder.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe see what He went through, and every day, we continue to crucify Him with our actions.\u201d<\/p>\n
The walk lasted about an hour, ending here, just before 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
A community remembering and reflecting\u2028ahead of Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n
