Those flames used to light the paschal candle, which was passed from parishioner to parishioner to begin the mass and start the celebration of easter.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We need hope more than ever before therein is why we celebrate Easter, because we believe we have that hope, even to the point of overcoming death by the risen Jesus,&#8221; said Bishop Joseph Bambera.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The bishop tells us that at this evening&#8217;s vigil, the diocese as a whole welcomed 300 new members, a dozen of them attending the mass.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A church in Scranton celebrated easter by holding a vigil mass.
