IT LOOKS FANTASTIC. I MEAN, LIKE IT CONNECTING THE STADIUMS. IT’S IN A PERFECT SPOT. EVEN THE ARCHWAY IS A GREAT VIEW. CONSTRUCTION AHEAD OF THE NFL DRAFT IS ROLLING ALONG ON THE NORTH SHORE. THE HYPE IS ONLY INCREASING WITH AN EXCITING OPENING WEEKEND FOR THE PIRATES AND A BRAND NEW SPOT RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM PNC PARK. IT’S REALLY FUN HANGING OUT WITH EVERYONE HERE, AND I LIKE HANGING OUT WITH MY FRIENDS. THE PLAZA AT THE NORTH SHORE OPENED EARLIER THIS WEEK. FRIED CHICKEN, ICE CREAM, DONUTS AND DRINKS, PLUS GAMES AND A STAGE THAT WILL HOST A FEW BIG CONCERTS DURING DRAFT WEEK. FAMILIES SAY THEY’LL BE COMING BACK FOR A KID FRIENDLY EXPERIENCE, SINCE A LOT OF THE NORTH SHORE BECOMES 21 AND UP IN THE EVENING, IT’S GREAT BECAUSE YOU CAN LITERALLY STILL HAVE DRINKS BUT STILL HAVE KIDS AND BE ABLE TO WATCH THE GAME, AND IT’S NICE AND OPEN AND AIRY AND LIKE BEING RIGHT BY THE BALLPARK ALSO GIVES LIKE THE SAME VIBE AS BEING INSIDE, IF NOT BEING INSIDE. SO IT’S COOL. MANY PEOPLE TELLING PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR THEY WANTED TO GET OUT AND EXPERIENCE THE NEW AND IMPROVED NORTH SHORE BEFORE 700,000 PEOPLE ROLL INTO THE CITY IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, I WILL NOT BE VENTURING DOWN ON THURSDAY OR FRIDAY, BUT SATURDAY I THINK, IS THE DAY WE’RE GOING TO COME. I THINK IT MIGHT BE A LITTLE LESS TRAFFIC, BUT I COME FROM 51, SO I WOULD IMAGINE IT’S GOING TO BE PRETTY HEAVY TRAFFIC. SO WE’LL SEE. WE’LL MAKE IT HERE. WE GOT IT. IT’S WORTH IT. ABSOLUTELY. FOR SURE FOLKS STAY WITH THE NORTH SHORE LIKE THIS. THEY’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE AREA BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE DRAF

Pittsburgh’s North Shore buzzes for Pirates opening weekend, ahead of NFL draft

   Updated: 11:30 PM EDT Apr 4, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

Plenty of excitement filled Pittsburgh’s North Shore Saturday as fans celebrated a walk-off win by the Pirates and checked out the city’s newest venue and construction for the NFL draft just feet away. “It looks fantastic. I mean, like, connecting the stadiums, it’s in a perfect spot. Even the archway is a great view,” said Joseph Bentley as he checked out the draft stage construction. The Plaza at the North Shore opened earlier this week. It’s located across from PNC Park, offering fried chicken, ice cream, donuts, drinks, games and a stage that will host big concerts during draft week.Families say they will be coming back for a kid-friendly experience since much of the North Shore becomes 21 and up in the evening.”It’s great because you can literally still have drinks, but still have kids and be able to watch the game, and it’s nice and open and airy,” said Chrissy Eisler, of Jeannette.”Being right by the ballpark also gives the same vibe as being inside, if not being inside, so it’s cool,” said Marie Dakan, of Jeannette. Many people told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 they wanted to get out and experience the new and improved North Shore before 700,000 people roll into the city for the draft in a couple of weeks.”I will not be venturing down on Thursday or Friday, but Saturday, I think, is the day we’re going to come.
