We\u2019re celebrating our 60th anniversary at JET 24 this week, and on Saturday, our team took to Millcreek Mall.<\/p>\n
For decades, the station has brought local news coverage to the community\u2014 and our mission has remained the same.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been here 31 years out of those 60 years, and I love it! It\u2019s a great place to work and a great town to live in,\u201d said Tom Atkins, JET 24\u2019s evening meteorologist.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile the faces and the names have changed in a lot of ways over the years, really the dedication to what we do hasn\u2019t,\u201d said Sean Lafferty, JET 24\u2019s evening anchor.<\/p>\n
At the mall, our team took donations throughout the day, collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations for Second Harvest Food Bank and gently used kids\u2019 clothing items and toys for Sarah Reed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been serving the community for 60 years now, and what better way to celebrate than serving it some more,\u201d said Spencer Lane, JET 24\u2019s general manager. \u201cJust donate and give back to the community like we always love to do, so we\u2019re really happy to be able to serve Erie.\u201d<\/p>\n
The team says the Erie community is what it\u2019s all about, and it\u2019s the reason we do what we do.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re nothing without this community, and people need help. Some people need a leg up, so let\u2019s help them,\u201d said Atkins.<\/p>\n
\u201cNever in 100 years did I think I would get the ability, the honor, to do what I\u2019ve been able to do for as long as I\u2019ve been able to do it. And for that, I can\u2019t say thank you enough,\u201d said Lafferty.<\/p>\n
