A bit of southern charm lands in the hills of western Berks County.<\/p>\n
“You’re the most impulsive person I’ve ever met,” said Erin Azar.<\/p>\n
“Probably because I’ve been on reality TV for 14 years,” responded Craig Conover at their fictional 10K starting point.<\/p>\n
For Kempton’s Erin Azar and Charleston, South Carolina-based Craig Conover, these are the rules of the reality TV road.<\/p>\n
“There’s a car,” yelled Azar.<\/p>\n
“There’s a truck,” added Conover as the pair set off on their run. The pair are running the hills of western Berks County.<\/p>\n
“I literally have to pee and we just started,” Azar told her cameraman.<\/p>\n
Azar rose to social media fame through her “Mrs. Space Cadet” running persona. She has nearly half a million Instagram followers and nearly a million on TikTok. While Conover is a Bravo TV reality star, the content creators’ personalities meshed while working together during the Paris Paralympics in 2024.<\/p>\n
“I used to really dislike running, but about six months ago, I became kind of a runner, and Erin popped into my head as being an inspiration for that,” Conover said.<\/p>\n
They’re turning online chemistry into a real-life challenge.<\/p>\n
“I’m challenging you to a 10K on your terms; we’ll do it for charity,” Conover challenged over social media.<\/p>\n
Conover is raising money through the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired South Carolina to buy AI glasses for children who are blind.<\/p>\n
“I’m grateful that I can look outside and see this beautiful landscape. And then I tried to shower with my eyes closed, and it was \u2014 and it’s hard. And so with the new technology, with AI glasses, you can have a trusted guardian, like their mom, can watch where they walk around,” he said.<\/p>\n
Azar is running for All Mother Plus, a charity aimed at helping working mothers.<\/p>\n
Prior to the race, a light reminder of how their bread is buttered was shared as a series of social media clips were made and posted.<\/p>\n
“What do you think of the PA landscape?” 69 News reporter Bo Koltnow asked Conover as he was running.<\/p>\n
“It’s challenging, not like anything I’ve done before,” he said.<\/p>\n
“You know you’re racing someone famous like Craig Conover when the local news is following you,” Azar told her followers as we trailed behind.<\/p>\n
Their 10K has raised nearly $10,000, with GoFundMe donations being accepted through next week.<\/p>\n
“I’m running fast and you’re doing a casual jog,” she said to Conover as the pair ran together.<\/p>\n
Azar, with a 27-minute home handicap advantage over Conover, won.
