Student Government Board announced plans for a menstrual equity initiative and acknowledged\u00a0 problems regarding Pitt shuttles\u2019 timeliness during its weekly meeting Tuesday night at Nordy\u2019s Place.<\/p>\n
Board members Kylie Baker and Rachel Smookler announced they are working with You & MEI<\/a> to sponsor a menstrual equity initiative in order to increase access to menstrual products across campus.<\/p>\n \u201cMenstrual equity is health care, and it should be taken care of like health care concerns,\u201d Baker said.<\/p>\n Smookler said SGB will send their proposal to relevant administrative bodies to obtain University funding.<\/p>\n Jorja Fleming, chair of the Campus Operations and Innovation committee<\/a>, addressed continued<\/a> concerns regarding the reliability of Pitt shuttles.<\/p>\n \u201cPitt shuttles have been a problem in the past,\u201d Fleming said. \u201c[The University] is in contact with shuttle drivers, making sure they are timely.\u201d<\/p>\n Fleming also said students can leave comments and concerns about shuttles by contacting SGB.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you can get a bus number and send it my way, I can get that to the transportation department,<\/a>\u201d Fleming said.<\/p>\n Baker announced that her warm clothing closet<\/a> is now receiving donations. Board member Andrew Elliott addressed continued concerns<\/a> about on-campus construction causing the closure of sidewalks. Elliott said the University is adding trained professionals that direct the flow of traffic around construction sites. Elliott also said the University is contacting the City to work on a campus map to improve and notify students of construction on campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n Allocations:<\/p>\n TAAZA Dance Competition<\/a> requested $27,091 to attend a competition. This request was denied in full.<\/p>\n Interfraternity Council <\/a>\u00a0requested $4,995.50 for general funds. This request was postponed to the next meeting.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are at over 20 hats and over 20 [pairs of] gloves,\u201d Baker said. \u201cWe are continuing to look for funding.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFlaggers are now at intersections of University and Fifth [Avenue] as well as across from the [the William Pitt] Union,\u201d Elliott said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
