(WHTM) \u2014 A Pennsylvania congressman called for President Donald Trump\u2019s removal from office, joining a chorus of Democrats after the president\u2019s threat to Iran on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
In a Truth Social post, Trump said a \u201cwhole civilization will die tonight\u201d<\/a> if Iran fails to meet his deadline to strike a deal that includes opening the Strait of Hormuz. Chris Deluzio (D-PA17), a former U.S. Navy officer who represents Pittsburgh\u2019s suburbs and all of Beaver County, condemned the rhetoric as \u201cthreats of a war crime\u201d in a social media post<\/a> of his own, writing it merited the president\u2019s removal.<\/p>\n \u201cCongress should return to Washington at once to put a stop to this and bring our troops home,\u201d Deluzio said.<\/p>\n Other Democrats have come out against the president\u2019s message, including U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who called Trump \u201can extremely sick person\u201d while encouraging Republicans to join efforts to end the war in Iran.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA10) celebrated Trump\u2019s reversal after a town hall Tuesday near Harrisburg. Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz as part of a two-week cease-fire agreement with the United States.<\/p>\n \u201cHe got the job done,\u201d Perry said. \u201cWhat did you expect?\u201d<\/p>\n Deluzio has been critical of Trump\u2019s handling of the military. The congressman, who served in Iraq, was one of six Democrats with military and intelligence backgrounds to release a video last year directly addressing active service members and saying, \u201cOur laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump labeled the group \u201ctraitors\u201d and suggested they could be locked up and punished by death.<\/p>\n
