WEST READING, Pa. – Reading Hospital is raising awareness about organ donation by raising a flag.<\/p>\n

A “Donate Life” flag, raised by staff members this morning, is now flying outside the hospital.<\/p>\n

Hospital officials say there is critical need for organ donors, with more than 100,000 children and adults currently awaiting a transplant.<\/p>\n

All month long the hospital will be taking steps to let people know about the need and how to help.<\/p>\n

“It’s very easy to donate organs, it’s very easy to become designated as an organ donor, and we’re encouraging not only our hospital family but our whole community to really be aware of the impact you can have on other people as an organ donor,” said Dr. Charles Barbera, Reading Hospital president and CEO.<\/p>\n

April is “National Donate Life Month.”<\/p>\n
