The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, said she woke up at 12:30 a.m. to the sound of knocking and her Ring Camera alerting her. “I didn’t even get out of my bed. I called the police,” she said. She explained that when she checked her phone, she saw Zarner trying to cover the camera and sizing up her door with the machete. “Once I saw that he had the machete, I called the police right away,” she said. Zarner lives in the same apartment complex, and while the woman said she hadn\u2019t interacted with him before, she was aware of who he was. She noted that for months, there had been loud noises and other disturbances coming from his apartment. “Finally, uh, got a Ring Camera up three hours before the incident. And, uh, you know, hopefully this is the end,” she said. When asked if her concerns about her neighbor prompted her to install the camera, she responded, “I needed to go out and get a camera. And thank God it came the day that I ordered it. I put it up three hours before. And I caught that on my camera.” Her footage not only captured Zarner yelling and wielding the machete but also kicking her door, leaving visible damage that remains days later. “There was nothing that anybody could really do.
