{"id":160965,"date":"2026-04-09T00:49:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T00:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/160965\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T00:49:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T00:49:07","slug":"pennsylvania-state-police-trooper-pleads-guilty-to-using-work-computer-to-create-ai-generated-pornography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/160965\/","title":{"rendered":"Pennsylvania state police trooper pleads guilty to using work computer to create AI-generated pornography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Pennsylvania State Police corporal has pleaded guilty to creating AI-generated pornography, possessing child sexual abuse material and secretly filming women, including coworkers and a Montgomery County judge, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-nine-year-old Stephen Kamnik pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court Wednesday to a total of 15 charges for years of abusing law enforcement databases, state-owned devices and unauthorized material for personal sexual gratification.<\/p>\n<p>Kamnik, who is currently suspended without pay, used secured law enforcement and commonwealth computer systems to create AI-generated pornographic images of numerous women, according to the attorney general&#8217;s office. Prosecutors said Kamnik created some of the explicit material at a Montgomery County barracks.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation, which was conducted by state police, found that Kamnik secretly filmed and photographed numerous women while on duty. Authorities said he repeatedly entered the women&#8217;s locker room at the state police barracks to take pictures of female officers.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said Kamnik also used the state&#8217;s Justice Network, known as JNET, to obtain hundreds of photographs of women, violating database policies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Investigators also found an unlawfully recorded video of a Montgomery County magisterial district judge during a court proceeding that prosecutors said Kamnik edited for lewd purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities also found a stolen .22-caliber gun during a search of Kamnik&#8217;s vehicle in January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Kamnik pleaded guilty to four felony counts of unlawful use of a computer,  sexual abuse of children, misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy, tampering with evidence and other related offenses.<\/p>\n<p>A Montgomery County judge is scheduled to sentence him July 8.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These crimes stain the great work being done by law enforcement every day in communities across the Commonwealth,&#8221;  Attorney General Dave Sunday said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>A lawsuit filed by a victim who alleges her image was used in AI-generated pornography claims Pennsylvania State Police were aware of prior incidents of Kamnik abusing his position as a state trooper but failed to properly discipline him.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint alleges Kamnik took undergarments belonging to female troopers from a locker room and kept a mannequin at his assigned station where he placed the stolen clothing to photograph it.<\/p>\n<p>It also alleges Kamnik conducted traffic stops involving female motorists while presenting himself as a law enforcement officer and making degrading requests, including asking them to stick out their tongues while he secretly filmed them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content__tags__label\">In:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Pennsylvania State Police corporal has pleaded guilty to creating AI-generated pornography, possessing child sexual abuse material and&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":107157,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[1609,2675,28,30,29,1224,51622],"class_list":{"0":"post-160965","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-pennsylvania","8":"tag-artificial-intelligence","9":"tag-child-abuse","10":"tag-pennsylvania","11":"tag-pennsylvania-headlines","12":"tag-pennsylvania-news","13":"tag-pennsylvania-state-police","14":"tag-pornography"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/160965","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=160965"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/160965\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/107157"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=160965"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=160965"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=160965"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
