So let’s get into the spring now. What’s that been like? What’s spring practice like and how does your roster look?

Mark Ross, Lackawanna college football coach says, “Well, the roster, you know, in my opinion, maybe better than I could’ve anticipated. I think everybody here has been, pleasantly surprised at the retention.

The kids, we got two nights in down at riverfront last week. A lot of energy. A lot of excitement. We’re, you know, we’re teaching, we’re we’ll get down to the stadium this week and get outside and start to actually play real football a little bit. But, it’s been a lot of fun to to start to learn and get to know these guys and, to watch them, get after it. “

Bob Ide asks, How important is that retention or was that retention?

Ross answers, “ I think it’s it’s huge to anything we can do as we go into the PSAC, you know, again, I think this is a talented roster. But we have some kids that are going to have opportunities to go elsewhere up, I think. But the more these kids are here in the fall. And then bring in an a class to complement them the better off we will be. “

Ide asks, Your coaching staff, You know, some stayed, you got some new people. So maybe go through a little bit of the coaching staff you brought in ?

Ross responds, “The offensive staff pretty much is intact. One new, new, new coach. He played here, moved on to Albany. Nick Csillan, and he’ll coach our, tight ends. Obviously very familiar with the school, the program and how things operate. And I think brings that perspective of having moved on up. So that’ll be very helpful. Defensively, new defensive coordinator Will Blandin. We kind of passed real quick at Bloom. But I spent a year with him, at Cornell.

I’m excited about what he brings to the table. And then the local coach he coached with me at Misericordia. Joseph Zabielski, brought him in, he’s going to coach our D-line. They’d be the three new coaches, and then the rest of the staff is intact “

Ide asks, What do you want to get out of this spring? What’s the ultimate goal ?

Ross says, “ I think for us, it’s to, you know, offensively, we’re a little bit ahead because not a lot has changed. So defensively it’s getting, a new scheme. The fundamentals and basis of that scheme taught and learned. And then for us really getting a good evaluation of everybody in the program and knowing who they are, what they are. So as we come back in the fall, we’ve got a good idea of a beginning point. “

Ide says, A lot of work from now until then, of course. I mean, you’re excited, I’m sure, about getting a new schedule, but yeah, you know, there’s a lot of work to do.

Ross says, Yeah, a ton of work. On the field, off the field. You know, recruiting never ends at this stage. So, you know, but come in every day excited about it. And get well done what we can, and come back the next day and get done what we can tomorrow. “

Joined once again tonight by the new head football coach at Lackawanna College, Mark Ross, former Misericordia University…

[15
178,180,179
0":"post-162061","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-scranton","8":"tag-scranton","9":"tag-scranton-headlines","10":"tag-scranton-news
["GET
