{"id":162153,"date":"2026-04-10T07:30:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T07:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/162153\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T07:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T07:30:12","slug":"wh-burkley-taps-pittsburgh-partner-to-lead-downtown-office-following-merger-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/162153\/","title":{"rendered":"WH Burkley taps Pittsburgh partner to lead downtown office following merger \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 A Pittsburgh law firm known nationally for its bankruptcy work confirmed a new partner-in-charge of its downtown office, following a merger two months ago in which its long-time leader took the helm of the combined firm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Kit Pettit is now leading WH Burkley\u2019s Pittsburgh office, Kirk Burkley, firmwide managing partner, told the Business Times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">It is Pittsburgh\u2019s 34th-largest law firm, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/pittsburgh\/subscriber-only\/2026\/01\/16\/pittsburgh-area-law-firms.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">List<\/a>\u00a0published by the Business Times on Jan. 16, 2026, ranked by the number of local attorneys, which was 22.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Burkley was elected managing partner of the firm,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/2026\/02\/02\/bernstein-burkley-merges.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">created through the Feb. 1, 2026 merger<\/a>of Cleveland-based Walter Haverfield and Bernstein-Burkley. He remains based in PIttsburgh. WH Burkley includes more than 70 lawyers across offices located in Cleveland, Mayfield and Columbus, Ohio; Pittsburgh; and Wheeling, West Virginia. Walter Haverfield was twice the size of Bernstein-Burkley.
