Police said three people were hospitalized late Wednesday after being injured when a shooting erupted after a fight at a house party in Philly’s Mayfair section spilled out into the street. <\/p>\n
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident happened at about 10:12 p.m. on Wednesday at a house party at a home located near the intersection of Ditman and Knorr streets in Philly’s Mayfair community.<\/p>\n
However, in a morning update, police said officers responded but initially found no victims. <\/p>\n
Shortly after, officers responded to a home on the 4500 block of Longshore Avenue to find a 24-year-old man who was suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg that he received in the shooting at the house party, officials said.<\/p>\n
Investigators believe this man was an innocent bystander who was struck while walking to a corner store near where the house party occurred. <\/p>\n
At that same time, Small said, investigators learned two other men — a 28-year-old and a 33-year-old — arrived at Philly hospitals by private vehicle after the younger one was shot in the leg and abdomen while the other was shot in the forearm in the same incident.<\/p>\n
All three, Small said, were placed in stable condition. <\/p>\n
Investigators believe the incident began when an argument at a house party on that block began after a knock on the door.<\/p>\n
That fight, officials said, spilled into the streets and an unknown gunman opened fire on the crowd.<\/p>\n
Over 30 shots were fired in the incident, Small said, as investigators found a pair or parked cars and two nearby homes had been struck by gunfire. The bullets were likely fired by, at least, two separate semi-automatic firearms, according to Small. <\/p>\n
Though, he said, no one in nearby homes was injured in this incident. <\/p>\n
No arrests have been made and no firearms were recovered, but Small said that there were surveillance cameras in the area of the shooting. <\/p>\n
On Thursday morning, he said, investigators were still reviewing that footage to learn more. <\/p>\n
An investigation into this incident, Small said, remains ongoing. <\/p>\n
