{"id":162575,"date":"2026-04-10T18:06:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T18:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/162575\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T18:06:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T18:06:10","slug":"passerby-helps-crews-get-a-jump-on-garage-fire-near-alsace-manor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/162575\/","title":{"rendered":"Passerby helps crews get a jump on garage fire near Alsace Manor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a detached garage of a residence in Alsace Township.<\/p>\n<p>A detached garage was discovered on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readingeagle.com\/2026\/04\/09\/berks-fire-crews-respond-to-garage-fire-near-alsace-manor\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fire<\/a> shortly before 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of Mount Laurel Road, less than a half-mile north of Pricetown Road, which is Route 12.<\/p>\n<p>The homeowner called 911 after someone who was driving by noticed the smoke, stopped and knocked on his door, said Dan Miller, chief of Blandon Fire Company.<\/p>\n<p>Crews gained control of the fire within 10 minutes. Tanker trucks from area fire companies shuttled water to the scene while fire-suppression crews protected the home and other outbuildings.<\/p>\n<p>Miller said that part of the roof of the two-bay garage was destroyed but the structure is intact.
