ALLENTOWN, Pa. – After losing her recent legal battle to get back on the 2026 Pennsylvania State Senate ballot<\/a>, Taiba Sultana is now facing another setback \u2014 a defamation lawsuit from 2024.<\/p>\n

Sultana filed a defamation lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Citizens Political Action Committee<\/a> (PAC) in 2024.<\/p>\n

She said the PAC made defamatory social media posts and put up yard signs while she ran for State House of Representatives.<\/p>\n

Her attorney said the signs and posts referred to her as “chaotic, criminal and crazy”, and portrayed her as anti-Semitic.<\/p>\n

On Friday, April 10, 2026, the Pennsylvania Superior Court dismissed the appeal after she failed to file a brief, effectively abandoning the case.<\/p>\n

A press release from the court says the dismissal brings finality to a case that had already been thoroughly rejected by the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas, which dismissed the lawsuit in its entirety after concluding the claims were legally insufficient.<\/p>\n

Officials say in a detailed opinion, the trial court made clear that the statements at issue constituted protected political speech and opinion\u2014not defamation\u2014and that Sultana failed to meet the constitutional burden required of a public figure, including any showing of actual malice or legally cognizable harm.<\/p>\n

After that decisive loss, Sultana filed an appeal\u2014but when it came time to defend her claims under appellate scrutiny, she did not follow through, resulting in dismissal, the court says.<\/p>\n

\u201cRather than confront the outcome of two court rulings, Sultana has consistently chosen to recast legal defeats as personal attacks, shift blame to the system, and escalate rhetoric instead of addressing the merits. That pattern has already played out following the trial court\u2019s dismissal\u2014and there is little reason to expect anything different now,\u201d the release reads.<\/p>\n

Raymond Lahoud, Chairman and sole funder of PA Citizens PAC, issued the following statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis wasn\u2019t a close case, and it wasn\u2019t a misunderstanding of the law\u2014it was a lawsuit that never should have been filed.<\/p>\n

The court didn\u2019t trim around the edges\u2014it dismantled the claims entirely because they lacked substance, lacked evidence, and lacked any basis under the Constitution. And when Ms. Sultana was finally required to defend those claims on appeal, she didn\u2019t\u2014she abandoned them.<\/p>\n

That tells you everything.<\/p>\n

This was never about defamation. It was about using the legal system as a political weapon\u2014to generate headlines, intimidate opposition, and try to rewrite the narrative after the fact.<\/p>\n

But courts are not platforms for political spin. They are forums for truth, evidence, and law. And when those are missing, the result is exactly what happened here: total collapse.<\/p>\n

Now, instead of accountability, we will likely see the same predictable response\u2014claims of victimhood, attacks on the system, and more accusations untethered from reality.<\/p>\n

But no amount of rhetoric can undo what two courts have already made clear: there was no case here, there was no defamation, and there is no justification for what was filed.<\/p>\n

The First Amendment is not optional. It protects political speech\u2014especially speech that is critical, uncomfortable, or unwelcome.
