23) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES \u2014 Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama. R-E-L-A-X. While there has been no shortage of drama surrounding the Eagles and QB Jalen Hurts, I\u2019m not advocating for drafting a replacement here, although Philly has had a habit of accumulating quarterbacks and then acquiring value by moving them down the line. This, however, feels like a potential landing area for Simpson via trade, especially if a team believes the Browns could be looking to select the Alabama product with their second first-round pick at 24. And instead of trying to predict which QB-needy organization will be desperate enough to make this move, I\u2019m keeping the Eagles as a placeholder in this mock to highlight the tantalizing leverage they could hold when their turn comes around \u2014 setting Howie Roseman up perfectly to work some of his customary wheeler-dealer magic.<\/p>\n
Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama. Simpson is polarizing due to circumstance more than ability. His draft stock is all over the map. The player loosely expects to go anywhere from 10 to 30 in the first round, but it\u2019s hard to confidently project a home for him yet. Positional needs could push him above his grade, but enough scouts have a second-round grade on him to make early Day 2 a possibility. Simpson\u2019s lack of starts is the primary concern. He started one year in an era when many quarterback prospects have two to four years of production. He played well through the first two months of the 2025 season and struggled late. \u201cI don\u2019t think anything about him other than him being a one-year player is supremely polarizing,\u201d an AFC executive said. \u201cThere\u2019s not a good history of it, but I think you\u2019ve got to take each guy as an individual case. \u201cI don\u2019t think anyone expects him to come in right away and be great. If picked in the 20s, he\u2019ll get experience and reps and get legs under him. He\u2019s a good kid, a coach\u2019s kid, had a lot of good production and success. Maybe not on the same tier as top guys, but he\u2019s still a player.\u201d One veteran NFL scout called Simpson \u201ca mix between Jared Goff and Mac Jones.\u201d What helps Simpson\u2019s cause is what he was asked to do at Alabama. \u201cHe made a lot of NFL throws,\u201d an NFL personnel evaluator said. \u201cSome guys were running a glorified high school offense in college, but [Simpson] was throwing deep in-breakers, corners, deep outs, seams, curls.\u201d<\/p>\n
He is just the latest addition to the Eagles\u2019 WR room, joining Hollywood Brown, and thi move will only fan the flames of a future A.J. Brown trade. The move could also signal that the team is not planning to use a high draft pick on a rookie wide receiver, as some were speculating just weeks ahead of the event. Bringing in Wicks gives the Eagles some added depth and experience. Plus he has familiarity with new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, who spent the last two seasons on the Packers\u2019 coaching staff.<\/p>\n
Of the Packers\u2019 top seven receivers, five of them were going into contract years in 2026: Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Wicks, Bo Melton and Skyy Moore. Without Wicks, Green Bay\u2019s top receivers going into the draft are Watson, 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden, Reed, Melton, Moore and 2025 third-round pick Savion Williams.<\/p>\n
During the Nick Sirianni era, the Eagles have tried to get \u201cdirty work\u201d types of receivers involved in their offense. Examples of those guys include Zach Pascal, Johnny Wilson, Darius Cooper, etc. If that\u2019s all Wicks is in the Eagles\u2019 offense, he will be the best of that bunch. Assuming he stays healthy, Wicks\u2019 floor is \u201cBest dirty work guy of the Sirianni era, by far.\u201d But Wicks is also only 24 years old (he\u2019ll turn 25 this summer). He can beat press, he runs decent enough routes, and he competes his ass off. He has some unreached ceiling available. He seems to be a try-hard player who will work toward that, and the Eagles have him under contract for two years. Of course, if he can\u2019t curtail the drops, then he may not be more than just a dirty work guy. After a deeper look, I do think what he already brings to the table plus his untapped potential is worth the two Day 3 picks the Eagles gave up to get him.<\/p>\n
The obvious question here is what does this mean for AJ Brown\u2019s future. It certainly points in the direction of him being dealt. I know some people still don\u2019t understand why the team would do that. Some people are just sure this is all a media fabrication. All you have to do is look at Howie\u2019s moves and the pre-draft meetings to see the Eagles are focused on the WR position. I don\u2019t think that is the case if AJ is staying. It pains me to say that, but there is just too much evidence otherwise.<\/p>\n
There could be other issues for Vrabel, based on the facts. If (and this is only an example, not an accusation) Vrabel was affirmatively using Russini to agitate for an A.J. Brown trade with the Eagles on the most favorable terms possible to the Patriots, the tampering rule could potentially apply. (Of course, the NFL rarely enforces the tampering rule.) Or if (and, again, this is only an example, not an accusation) Russini was sharing material, non-public information harvested from other teams with Vrabel at his request, that could be a separate problem.<\/p>\n

His physical gifts and his ability to close down a runner was at a peak before his second ACL tear. He was a budding star, but now he has to show he can get back to that level while staying healthy. Overshown is currently eligible for a contract extension, but due to his inability to stay on the field, the Cowboys would be wise to hold off on giving the former Texas Longhorn an extension. If he\u2019s able to stay healthy and get back to his 2024 form, Overshown could be in for a nice payday by the Cowboys during the season or at the end of the 2026 season. Barring a major trade or one of the top two linebackers (Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese) landing in Dallas on draft day, Overshown is set to be the team\u2019s top linebacker for this season, giving him every opportunity to cash-out at some point in the next 12 months. It\u2019s a huge season for the linebacker. How do you think it will go for him?<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve been told a lot already. Last year\u2019s white \u2018Super Bowl era\u2019 jerseys are likely to become the permanent white; a burgundy version of the \u2018Super Bowl era\u2019 top will be introduced this season; the \u201cBattle Blacks\u201d will get a makeover that may include re-positioning the \u201cW\u201d logo from the forehead to the side of the helmet, and it seems as if the regular helmet will have the old white & gold stripes added back and the finish changed from matte to gloss. I\u2019ve picked these ideas up from Tik Tok and Twitter where they\u2019ve been discussed in some depth for months, but it can be hard to separate informed discourse from wishes and hopes. At the owners\u2019 meeting about a week ago, Josh Harris very blatantly teased the reveal, saying that they (the Commanders front office) had something up their collective sleeve and that he didn\u2019t want to ruin the \u2018surprise\u2019. Given the very strict nature of the league\u2019s rules about uniforms and logos, it\u2019s hard to keep much hidden from the public for very long, but it would probably be a mistake for Mr. Harris to tease a surprise and not deliver.<\/p>\n
I have said this multiple times in multiple different places. The Giants face the same decision with Lawrence that they faced in 2023 with Leonard Williams. Do you give a big money, long-term extension to a player approaching 30 who \u201cmight\u201d be showing signs of decline? Or, do you trade him \u2014 even if you do so a year early \u2014 and get what you can before his value begins to tumble? There would not really be a cap benfit to trading Lawrence now. The Giants would have more dead money ($13.9 million) that they would aave ($13.1 million). I\u2019m sure Lawrence is looking at his deal, seeing that there is no guaranteed salary left on it, and thinking this is the time to get something done.<\/p>\n
The weeks leading up to the NFL Draft are all about smoke and mirrors, but one player has absolutely caught fire in the lead up to the first round. Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion has moved from the late-first round pick, potentially even waiting until day two to hear his name, to now having a very real potential he could be taken as high as No. 11 \u2014 maybe even sneaking into the Top 10. ESPN has noted that Concepcion is one of the draft\u2019s biggest risers right now. There\u2019s one very real reason this is happening: Everyone is starting to realize who KC Concepcion is, and how good he could be in the NFL.<\/p>\n
