HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) \u2014 Water system upgrades are coming to part of Dauphin County this spring.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania American Water said it will invest $13.9 Million to improve the Hershey water system. The upgrades, it said, will support future growth, strengthen reliability and improve water flow for both everyday use and firefighing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese projects are about making sure Hershey\u2019s water system is ready for the years ahead,\u201d
said Bruce Brubaker, senior manager of engineering project delivery for Pennsylvania American
Water. \u201cBy adding new storage and replacing older pipelines, we\u2019re helping ensure reliable
service, protecting public health, and supporting the community\u2019s continued growth.\u201d<\/p>\n
The bulk of the investment is a new water storage tank and pump station.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania American Water said it will install a new two million gallon storage tank at a cost of $10 million. It\u2019ll take a year to build.<\/p>\n
Also beginning this spring is a $3.9 million project to replace a water main along Sand Beach Road and across the Swatara Creek. That will replace a mile of aging pipe, the company said.<\/p>\n
