The Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins are starting to build a little momentum heading into the postseason.<\/p>\n
The locals scored three goals in the third period as the Penguins picked up a 4-1 win over the Cleveland Monsters on Saturday night at Mohegan Arena.<\/p>\n
The win clinches the No. 2 seed for Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton, and gives the team a bye in the opening round of the postseason.<\/p>\n
The victory evens the season series with Cleveland at 2 with each team winning once on the other\u2019s home ice.<\/p>\n
Atley Calvert\u2019s 14th goal of the season gave WBS a 1-0 lead after one, and after a scoreless second period, the Pens offense came to life.<\/p>\n
Aidan McDonough scored twice, including one on the power play, and Tanner Howe\u2019s empty-netter sealed the victory \u2014 improving the Pens to 44-16-7-2 on the year.<\/p>\n
Joel Blomqvist got the start in net, stopping 24 of 25 shots.<\/p>\n
Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton ends the season next week with three home games.
