(WHTM) \u2014 State officials have announced a new license plate to honor and help preserve Pennsylvania\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
The new Preserve Our Heritage plate features the Pennsylvania Bank Barn, described as \u201ca distinct and highly efficient agricultural structure \u201cthat became a defining feature of the American rural landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n
The plates cost $64 with $23 going to support the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission\u2019s education and exhibit programs.<\/p>\n
\u201cPennDOT is proud to commit funds from the sale of each Preserve Our Heritage special fund plate to support the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission\u2019s education and exhibit programs,\u201d said PennDOT Deputy Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services Kara Templeton. \u201cIn doing so, PennDOT is continuing its part in helping Pennsylvanians engage with the important history of our Commonwealth.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor centuries, the iconic stone foundations and cantilevered forebays of the Pennsylvania Bank Barn have stood as steadfast symbols of our state\u2019s deep agricultural roots,\u201d said Andrea Lowery, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Historic & Museum Commission. \u201cThese structures were built to last, perfectly integrated into the hillsides of our Commonwealth. Placing this historic cornerstone on our new license plates is a wonderful way for Pennsylvanians to celebrate and carry a piece of our shared, enduring history wherever the road takes them.\u201d<\/p>\n
