{"id":164225,"date":"2026-04-13T03:48:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T03:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/164225\/"},"modified":"2026-04-13T03:48:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T03:48:08","slug":"pennsylvania-attorney-general-warns-of-investment-scams-on-meta-platforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/164225\/","title":{"rendered":"Pennsylvania attorney general warns of investment scams on Meta platforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/a41f7bb9c53d460a909d19c0eadf58f6.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday is warning residents of the state to beware of investment scams online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to a release, the schemes are being spread on platforms owned by Meta, such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Scammers use deceptive tactics like AI and fake celebrity endorsements to lure people into investments that ultimately drain their money, Sunday\u2019s office says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe continue to see lures and traps online \u2014 fueled by A.I. \u2014 that dupe people into emptying their bank accounts in favor of fake investment opportunities,\u201d Sunday said. \u201c&#8230; We continue to push Meta to take responsibility for predatory advertising on their platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So-called \u201cpump and dump\u201d scams trick people into investing in cryptocurrency or low-priced stocks, officials say. When the price is high, the scammers sell, while the victims lose their money.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Confidence schemes involve the scammer building a trusting relationship with the victim, getting them to invest in fake investment platforms.
