Three Durham pitchers limited Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre to four hits as the Bulls held on to defeat the RailRiders, 4-3, in the series final Sunday afternoon at PNC Field in Moosic.<\/p>\n
After the RailRiders won the first two games, Durham came back to take three of the final four games and earn a split.<\/p>\n
Raynel Delgado doubled with one out in the top of the first off RailRiders starter Dom Hamel. Delgado moved to third on a groundout and scored on a balk to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n
Logan Davidson\u2019s two-out RBI single in the top of the fourth and Carlos Colmenarez\u2019s one-out home run in the top of the fifth extended Durham\u2019s lead to 3-0.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Bulls starter K.C. Hunt held the RailRiders hitless through the first four innings. Yanquiel Fernandez finally broke through with a double leading off the fifth. Two outs later and Fernandez still at second, Ali Sanchez homered down the left-field line on the first pitch he saw to cut the deficit to 3-2.<\/p>\n
It stayed that way until the top of the eighth when Victor Mesa Jr. hit a leadoff home run on a 2-0 pitch to give Durham a 4-2 lead.<\/p>\n
Things got interesting in the bottom of the ninth as the RailRiders tried to rally. Jonathan Ornelas walked and Jasson Dominquez singled him to second. A wild pitch advanced the runners to third and second, respectively. Spencer Jones hit a sacrifice fly to score Ornelas and make it a one-run game. But Cam Hill got Fernandez to foul out and end the game.<\/p>\n
Hunt (1-2) allowed two runs on two hits in five innings for Durham with no walks and four strikeouts. Jonathan Heasley threw three scoreless innings, giving up one hit. Hill worked the ninth to pick up his first save.<\/p>\n
Dominguez had two of the RailRiders\u2019 four hits. Hamel (0-2) gave up three runs (two earned) and four hits in five innings with two walks and six strikeouts.<\/p>\n
