(WHTM)\u2013 Pennsylvanians are feeling the burden of rising gas prices across the Commonwealth, and one Pennsylvania lawmaker says they are trying to help.<\/p>\n
State Rep. Ryan Bizzarro (D-Erie) introduced legislation that would prevent same-day gas price increases in Pennsylvania. The bill is aimed at helping provide relief to consumers by stopping companies from \u201cgas price gouging.\u201d<\/p>\n
The legislation, House Bill 2283, was officially introduced on Tuesday and has garnered 16 co-sponsors, according to Rep. Bizzarro.<\/p>\n

While their profits grow year after year, Pennsylvanians are feeling the pinch on their wallets. These are unconscionable practices that need to be reined in,\u201d Bizzarro said. \u201cAt a time of global instability, we cannot allow sudden, unchecked price hikes at the pump to hit drivers without warning.\u201d<\/p>\n The bill, according to Rep. Bizzarro, would prevent price increases within 24 hours of a prior increase, outlaw increases during emergencies, and \u201cempower\u201d Attorney General Dave Sunday to investigate and prosecute gas price gouging.<\/p>\n \u201cPennsylvanians are already stretched thin trying to afford groceries, rent, and necessities, and now rising gas prices driven by the war in Iran are making it even harder to get by. When fuel costs spike, it drives up the cost of everything, putting more pressure on people who are already struggling,\u201d Bizzarro said. \u201cPutting guardrails in place that can help slow or limit increases can provide real, immediate relief and help families pay for everyday expenses.\u201d<\/p>\n
