Winners of Gannon\u2019s national high school poetry contest will also be recognized.<\/p>\n<p>This is the 49th annual Writing Awards Night and will be free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Shenoda will be the distinguished guest poet. Shenoda is the author of several books including &#8220;The Way Of The Earth,\u201d \u201cBearden&#8217;s Odyssey: Poets Respond to the Art of Romare Bearden,\u201d \u201cTahrir Suite,\u201d \u201cSeasons of Lotus, Seasons of Bone\u201d and \u201cSomewhere Else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He will be hosting an afternoon seminar \u201cThe Ekphrastic Impulse,&#8221; at 3 p.m. on the first floor of Nash Library.
