(WJET\/WFXP)\u2013 Pennsylvania\u2019s Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has awarded $18 million to the Erie City Water Authority to help with two water infrastructure projects, replacing old parts and making upgrades.<\/p>\n
From that investment, $10 million will go to the fifth phase of the city\u2019s Infrastructure Investment Authority project to replace roughly 1,250 galvanized connectors on private properties that were once downstream of lead parts that have since been replaced.<\/p>\n
Legislation introduced to stop price gouging at the pump in PA <\/a><\/p>\n The other $8 million will go towards funding work on their targeted distribution system, along with renovating the water authority\u2019s main maintenance facility on West 12th Street, which eventually includes plans to replace pipes on Erie\u2019s east side.<\/p>\n Elected state officials said neighborhoods with household incomes at or below the state\u2019s median will get first priority with work, including service line replacement, excavation, backfill and surface restoration, while speaking to the importance of the projects.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re investing in durable solutions that stop threats to water quality at the source and safeguard our neighborhoods for decades to come,\u201d State Rep.
