Erie police detectives are continuing to investigate the deaths of three small children in an Erie house fire at 535 and a half East 26th Street.<\/p>\n
Witnesses and investigators say the children\u2019s mom 22-year old Danozjna Williams, was apparently not at home when the fire broke out.<\/p>\n
She was seen returning home after Erie firefighters and first responders pulled the children out of the smoky fire and began working to revive them.<\/p>\n
The children, 5-year-old Tobias, and 3-year old Da\u2019liyla were pronounced dead shortly after arrival at UPMC Hamot Trauma Center. Their baby sister, 5-month old Amirah Al-Mansouri was flown to Children\u2019s Hospital in Pittsburgh, and died several days later.<\/p>\n
The fire started in the kitchen, but Chief Erie Fire Marshal Don Sauer says the cause is still undetermined. Horace, the department\u2019s accelerant detection canine, found no evidence of accelerants in the home. Investigators from the ATF joined in the probe. Sauer is hoping some of their data may shed more light on a cause.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, Erie police detectives are continuing to conduct interviews and process evidence gathered at the scene. Police Chief Rick Lorah said nothing has been ruled out in the investigation.<\/p>\n
When detectives complete their investigation, their findings will be forwarded to the office of Erie County District Attorney Elizabeth Hirz to determine what if any charges are warranted.<\/p>\n
